Beach erosion near Banjul, The Gambia

The main objectives of the project is identifying climate related stresses in the pilot action zone, assessing the vulnerability of lives livelihoods to these stresses, and also developing sustainable adaptive measures.

This area is experiencing sea-level rise which causes coastal erosion and salinisation of fresh water. Seasonal flooding in August and September, as well as problems related to excess heat have also been identified as problems.

The project is being run by ENDA Tiers-Monde as part of its ENDA Communities programme, and is led by Gifty Ampomah.
