Climate change affects men and women differently with regards to responses to the impacts of climate change. There has been very little research conducted, however, on understanding different adaptive strategies that can benefit men and women. The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security (CCAFS) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has created a training guide entitled, “Gender and Climate Change Research in Agriculture and Food Security for Rural Development” to help inform particiaptory action research (PAR) on topics such as climate analogues, weather information, and climate smart agriculture, which can be adapation strategies. Using PAR tools in this guide will help assess vulnerability to hazards, and adaptive capacity of men and women farmers. This guide was tested in Bangladesh, Ghana, and Uganda.
