Call for Experts – IPBES Second Global Assessment

The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is seeking experts for its Second Global Assessment of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. This comprehensive evaluation aims to update and expand upon the 2019 Global Assessment, providing critical insights into biodiversity trends and informing policy decisions. The second global assessment will be delivered in 2028.

The Multidisciplinary Expert Panel herewith invites qualified experts to apply, and Governments and relevant organizations to confirm their applications (nominate experts) to participate in the second global assessment.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Experts with experience in regional and global analyses related to nature and its contributions to people across terrestrial, freshwater, coastal, and marine ecosystems.
  • Proficiency in disciplines such as natural sciences, social sciences, or humanities.
  • Interdisciplinary backgrounds are highly desirable.
  • Expertise in Indigenous and local knowledge systems, policy development, or practical implementation in relevant fields.

Application Process:

  1. For Experts (Nominees): Complete the application form by 28 March 2025.
  2. For Nominators (Governments or organizations): Submit the nominations of all nominees, which they would like to support before 6 April, 2025
