The UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) is looking for a candidate to join their Nature-based Solutions team as Associate Programme Officer!

This is a full-time role. You will be working with a team of 26 and contribute towards work our broad range of work, including ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change, climate change mitigation and nature for health and well-being.

Key areas of work include:
👉 Undertaking literature review; collection, collation and analysis of data; preparation of draft text for technical syntheses; and contributing to publications, reports and other types of information outputs.
👉 Supporting policy, economic and financial analysis, spatial planning, GIS, among others.
👉 Contributing to the operation and administration of projects as required, compiling technical reports, organising meetings, workshops and events, and liaising with donors, clients and partners.
👉 Responding to requests for information both internally and externally.
👉 Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the grade and relevant to the needs of the Centre that may be determined by the line manager.

Person specifications we seek:
🔸 Degree in biological sciences, geography, environmental sciences, economics, social sciences or similar.
🔸 Demonstrated interest and work experience in environment, climate or biodiversity sector.
🔸 Understanding of key biodiversity, climate and environmental issues and concepts especially in relation to nature-based solutions, climate change and climate policy and sustainable development issues in general.
🔸 Demonstrated ability to contribute to high quality outputs such as reports and reviews.

  • Salary: £25,000-£30,000 per anum
  • Contract type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Start date: as soon as possible
  • Location: The post-holder will be expected to reside in the UK, and come to Cambridge 2-3 days per week.
