Project title: Analyzing public understanding of climate change,  biodiversity loss, and water quality

Dublin City University’s Institute for Climate and Society is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship beginning in September 2025. This opportunity is ideal for those interested in advancing research at the intersection of climate change, media, communications, and societal transformation.

The research will explore how communication influences public understanding and political responses to climate change, focusing on disinformation, narrative framing, and public trust.

  • Host Institution: Institute for Climate and Society, Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland
  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Funding: Includes full tuition fees (EU or non-EU) + annual stipend of €25,000 for 4 years. Some funding for research equipment, materials, fieldwork, and conference travel will also be provided.
  • Supervision: Prof. David Robbins (Director, Institute for Climate and Society)

Who should apply?
Applicants with a background in communications, media studies, political science, sociology, or environmental studies are encouraged to apply. A master’s degree is preferred but not required.
