As the need for adaptation action and for enabling adaptation policy progress, it is increasingly recognised that decision and policymakers require access to relevant and high-quality information to support the development and implementation of national and transnational adaptation strategies and plans, and climate actions. These requirements are also recognised within, and seen as consistent with, implementing the Paris Agreement.
Web-based climate change adaptation platforms provide a vital means of providing access to meet these requirements; sharing information, evidence and guidance consistent with supporting decision making for adaptation planning at local, national, and transnational scales, and targeting policy- and decision-makers. Internationally, these knowledge platforms are at different stages of development and capabilities (from early planning of new platforms through to advanced platforms being relaunched), and all face a number of challenges that limit their effectiveness in supporting climate action.
This Network, managed by the Stepping-Up Knowledge Exchange between Climate Adaptation Knowledge Platforms (KE4CAP) project, aims to support platform developers and operators to come together and compare and learn from current approaches, to share knowledge and best practices, learning and working together to address common and emerging challenges and ultimately to deliver the best support possible for climate adaptation.
