I am researcher on political ecology on transboundary protected areas, currently working on the South of Mexico, in the Tacana Biosphere Reserve.
I am looking at national and subnational strategies of environmental policy and management related to ecosystem conservation and watershed management and their link to adatation governance, on both sides of the mexican-guatemalan border.
The objective of my research project is first, to identify main constraints to develop and implement adaptative policies to climate change impact on the Tacana Biosphere Reserve and associated watersheds (mainly Coatán Watershed); second, to explore and propose alternative policy designs that specifically link conservation and watershed management with adaptaion.
To do that I explore the interaction between actors agency, structural factors and policy frameworks and the scope for adaptative governance.
