Consultant
Dirk Hoffmann holds a first degree M.A. in Latin American Studies of Free University Berlin and is MSc Environmental Protection from Humboldt University Berlin.
For more than 10 years he has been living in Bolivia, working as an Integrated Expert (CIM) with the Bolivian protected area agency SERNAP as advisor on decentralized park management and climate change; and with the Ecological Institute of Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA), La Paz, as Coordinator of the Climate Change Research Program.
From 2011-14 he was director of the Bolivian Mountain Institute – BMI in La Paz, and continues to be the editor of the blog “Cambio Climático Bolivia” (www.cambioclimatico-bolivia.org), a Spanish language blog on climate change, and works as international consultant and researcher.
He has written numerous scientific and journalistic articles on climate change, environment and development, and is co-author of the book “Bolivia en un mundo 4 grados más caliente. Escenarios sociopolíticos ante el cambio climático para los años 2030 y 2060 en el altiplano norte” (2012).
At present he is based in Berlin, working as an independent researcher and consultant in the fields of climate change and sustainable development.
