Emmanuel Longo is an Engineer with over 18 years of experience in Transport Policy planning, Rural and urban transport, Road Safety, regional Integration, land-use, air quality, and climate change.
As Advisor at Ministry of Transport and the Director General of Planning, Policy, Training & Research; he coordinates the World Bank Sustainable Urban Transport management programme of Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP) on urban transport and sustainability policy in South Sudan.
For the Government of South Sudan, he leads efforts on Regional Integration in Northern corridor Integration Projects (NCRIP) through development of the Regional Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), development of common policies and their subsequent harmonization, and now integration of Republic of South Sudan to East Africa Community.
Prior to that, he was a National Consultant with the World Bank, USAID and an Engineer with both UNDP and UNICEF. He was one of the consultants that developed the Republic of South Sudan’s Road Sector Development Programme 2016-2020 and South Sudan East Africa Trade and Transport Facilitation Regional Programme (SS-EATTRP).
He is the founder of The South Sudan Sustainable Network Solution (formerly called Sudan Climatic Change Network). The network provides a platform to foster policy dialogue. This space allows bringing on board local and international voices into the policy, legislative and developmental dialogue as well as actions through advocacy, research, lobbying, and awareness raising to accelerate and scale up public awareness on both SDG 2030 & African Union 2063 agendas, Climate Change and Justice for a resilient South Sudan.
