Francesco Goletti
Dr. Goletti has more than twenty five years’ experience in agricultural policy and value chain analysis, agro-enterprise and agribusiness development, agricultural marketing and institutions, infrastructure development, and agricultural diversification. He has a proven record in team leadership and project management in over 25 countries. He has organized and conducted a variety of capacity strengthening and outreach activities involving the private sector in developing countries and including seminars, workshops, regional and international conferences.
Dr. Goletti has designed, conducted, and supervised field work activities with farmers, traders, processors, agribusiness entrepreneurs, and representatives from communities, government agencies, trade associations, microfinance organizations, and NGOs. He designed, conducted, and supervised training and capacity building for professionals, entrepreneurs, government and development agency officers. He has advised policy makers and established effective working relations with senior officials in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Mozambique, India, Nepal, and Viet Nam. He conducted studies on value chains and market assessment for a variety of products (rice, wheat, maize, starch, livestock, feed, cassava, fruits, vegetables, tea, cocoa, essential oils, aquaculture) and services to farmers and agribusiness. He has provided advisory services to entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and other countries in different industries including rice, shrimp, starch, feed, and horticultural products; he has consulted for multinational corporations such as Mars Inc. He participated and established networks within the international agricultural research centers (CGIAR) and international development community in the areas of postharvest technology and rural industrialization. Dr. Goletti has a proven record of publications in professional journals and books and successful outreach activities and policy impact.
Before founding Agrifood Consulting International (ACI) in 2000, he was senior research fellow and program leader of the Postharvest and Rural Industrialization Program at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Dr. Goletti holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from New York University in 1991.
