Senior Consultant / Managing Director
I am a senior consultant, policy advisor and practitioner with thirty years’ operational experience working for international organisations across Africa, Asia and Europe to strengthen the climate and disaster resilience of communities and nations. I have a deep understanding of disaster risk management, resilience, sustainability and climate adaptation policies, plans and practices, with particular expertise in policy coherence, all-of-society engagement and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Between 2007-2017, I was the founding director of the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), established to strengthen the ability of civil society and at-risk communities to work collaboratively, in partnerships with public and private stakeholders, to prevent disasters and advance risk-informed development. In this role, I served as the principal civil society interlocutor in the UN negotiations of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and provided policy inputs to the formulation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Change agreements. I have been an active member of World Bank, UN and OECD risk and resilience expert advisory groups.
In 2018, I established a consultancy practice "Resilience Solutions Associates" providing research, capacity strengthening and technical advisory services to address climate and disaster resilience, adaptation, and sustainability challenges for private and public sector clients.
