Senior Lecturer
Dr. James Kwame Mensah is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Public Administration and Health Services Management, University of Ghana Business School, and a fellow at the Penn Institute of Urban Research (Penn IUR), University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on urban informality in its multiple dimensions ― economy, informal settlements, and livelihood. He also researches on the development of local economies to improve the quality of life for all residents in local and rural communities. Methodologically, Mensah is well versed in both quantitative (e.g., SEM, Multiple Regression) and qualitative research methods. His research publications have appeared in top-tier journals including Urban Research and Practice, Urban Forum, Local Economy, Development Southern Africa, among others. He led the development of the Accra Resilience Strategy funded and supported by the Rockefeller Foundation through the 100 resilient Cities Programme. He has consulted for several organisations and has been involved in the development of government policies in Ghana.
