Research
My studies and professional experience have been motivated by a particular interest in understanding the multiple and complex connections between human and natural systems and my eagerness to collaboratively develop more comprehensive responses to deal with global change processes. My ambition is to fully utilize and expand my knowledge and skills regarding socio-ecological systems with a special emphasis on South America. For over 15 years I have worked in project management, on topics such as education for sustainable development, environmental governance, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development in countries of the Andean region and Nepal, covering a wide range of contexts and stakeholders. I have research experience with ICRAF in Peru on agroforestry practices, small farmers and climate change adaptation as well as with The Mountain Institute, analyzing EbA measures in Peru. Within a joint project by GIZ and ICIMOD, I have conducted a research project to analyze the socio-ecological system of a protected area in Nepal by applying the ecosystem approach. Currently, I'm part of the academic staff of HNEE in the Faculty of Forest and Environment implementing diverse ways to facilitate learning processes with change agents who will work towards social-ecological transformations.
