I am an indigenous women born and grown up in the third largest forest of Bangladesh locally known as sal (Shorea robusta) forest. I grown up having wilderness around me and from my childhood I used to roam in the forest for searching wild fruits that was naturally grow. Nature was part of my life from the childhood and I believe, we human, are part of a nature.
I moved from my forest land to the city to pursue my study at college and further graduated from the university. Throughout from college to university I finished my graduation in commerce background. However, at university level, my views; ideas; and way to see life has become gradually changed. My view of people’s life, their struggle to survive instead of poverty, and ability to adapt with natural calamities provoked me more to pursue my career in the development field and I started my career with the organization working for environment, indigenous people and human rights. My involvement with environmental activities insist me to study further in the field and in 2014 I have completed my second masters on Environmental Management and Development from the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia.
I have added couple of work experiences in my career with national and international organizations before and after my second graduation. I have served for vulnerable people in general and environment, climate change & disaster management, Livelihood & food security in particular. I have progressively work with the people particularly with women who are vulnerable to natural disaster and climate change in the coastal area of ‘Sundarban’ the largest mangrove forest of the world which is environmentally complex due to human-nature existence.
However, all of that, now I am looking an organization mainly committed to environmental protection where the objective of organization and my passion will go hand in hand. I believe, am still have my best to contribute to the environmental protection and conservation.
