Associate Professor
Dr. Netra Chhetri is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society. Situated at the intersection of human-environment system, the core focus of Dr. Chhetri’s scholarship has been advancing better life for people at the margin. Empirically, this work reveals the need for replacing existing models of knowledge creation with its distinctive feature of interactive learning that engenders active participation of broad range of stakeholders. Theoretically, it examines human-centered approach to knowledge production as societies confront complex social and environmental challenges. Pragmatically, it offers insights into the implications of science-based and community-led innovations that bring scientists and engineers together with farmers, practitioners and industry leaders to co-generate knowledge and develop solutions at scale. By moving back-and-forth across the paradigm of knowledge and practice Dr. Chhetri inform his scholarship by pursuing action-research to enrich his knowledge and inform colleagues and peers see the merit of co-generating knowledge with the supposed users of it.
