My doctoral research seeks to counteract prevailing trends in research into global environmental change by focusing on adaptation to climate change in New Zealand and by employing a 'bottom-up' approach to understanding the various ways in which farmers and other stakeholders experience vulnerability to changing environmental conditions. I work with kiwifruit growers, dairy and drystock farmers in Eastern New Zealand on identifying current exposure to climatic and non-climatic risks, and adaptive responses with the goal of analyzing future farm-level vulnerability.
