The Siméon Fongang Atmospheric and Ocean Physics Laboratory (LPAO-SF) is one of the research units within the Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique (ESP), a public institution affiliated with Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar. LPAO-SF focuses on studying climate dynamics and atmospheric processes in West Africa, particularly their impact on atmospheric chemistry, water resources, agriculture, and public health. The laboratory trains and mentors PhD and Masters students and engineers.
The University of Cheikh Anta Diop Think Tank on Climate Finance (UCAD-TT-CF) has enabled the creation of four mixed consortia comprising academic, government, and private actors to develop project fiches with potential for development into full Green Climate Fund concept notes. These four consortia are focused on climate risks to urban systems, agriculture, coastal zones, and renewable energy, and with a focus on implementation of the NAP, NDC, and Local Climate Change Adaptation Plans.
