Climate and Environmental Scientist
Dr. Chonghua Yin is a data scientist, who has over ten years experience in data analysis/mining/management, software design and development, resource management, and climate change adaptation and risk assessment. He has two skills that make him distinctive – mixing programming with rapid prototype building.
- Ph.D. degree in environmental science from the University of Waikato.
- Master degree of Meteorology from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China.
- Developed GENIES (Global Environment and National Information Evaluation System), drought assessment Tool, and regional climate scenario generator.
- Developed a novel statistical downscaling model (SOM-BCSD) and a statistical bias-correction method (BCSD) for AR5 GCM data, which are both widely, used in climate change risk and adaptation projects.
- Design and development of the CLIMsystems Seasonal Climate Forecast Service System (CSCFSS).
- Contribute to open source tutorials on Github and Linkedin.
