PhD researcher
I am a civil engineer with interest in international development and human development. I am undertaking my PhD a the University of Cambridge, Department of Engineering. My research focuses on the interrelationships of water and sanitation in rural developing areas and gender roles. I am looking at case studies from Uganda to understand how engineers can design more gender sensitive infrastructure. I have also done some research consultancy with Oxfam America in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria, in a project that aimed to understand the impact of the disaster on water and sanitation practices from a gender perspective. The project resulted in practical recommendations that have been incorporated into Oxfam's programme in the country, as well as a report that analyses and presents the findings of the research.
