Executive Director
Dr. David Ganz’s experience in forest science, policy and community development, in both international and domestic arenas, has provided him with a unique mixture of social, ecological, and economical perspectives on how community forestry can be implemented and promoted at various scales. Dr. Ganz has over 30 years experience in natural resources management including several years working abroad consulting on large-scale natural resource management, especially food-water-energy projects.
Specialties: Dr. Ganz is a respected manager, scientist and convener who has critical experience integrating forest carbon with some of our most important new opportunities and emerging issues: sustainable livelihoods, climate change adaptation, ecosystem services, biofuels and community forestry. David has worked for the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), Winrock International, The Nature Conservancy, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, and previously with The Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC) and IUCN/WWF's Project FireFight SE Asia. He has managed a variety of projects in Southwestern China and Southeast Asia and now brings these convening and management skills to the Executive Director position for RECOFTC.
