Economist and development specialist who is currently a climate and sustainable development advisor. Irene is passionate about improving development pathways helping to integrate adaptation and low emission investments whilst establishing financial mechanisms and economic instruments to facilitate their implementation.
She currently advises a group of countries in the UNFCCC negotiations, whilst works in Progresum on energy and adaptation programs at regional, national and subnational levels. She has developed national adaptation programs, collaborated in regional processes and projects as well as projects aiming at reducing emissions i.e. NAMAs of energy efficiency, the National Adaptation Strategy for Biodiversity in Costa Rica and funding proposals on urban resilience.
Irene is very interested in the linkages of mitigation and adaptation, financial mechanisms for adaptation efforts, strengthening the synergies of disaster risk reduction and adaptation, urban adaptation to climate change and ecosystem based adaptation.
