Dr. Jordan Fischbach is a leader in climate adaptation and coastal planning at the RAND Corporation. His work focuses on water resources and infrastructure planning, flood risk analysis, coastal protection and restoration, and developing and applying exploratory modeling and robust decision methods to better manage long-term climate uncertainty. Fischbach led a two-year storm surge and damage assessment for the State of Louisiana to support the development of Louisiana's 2012 Coastal Master Plan, for which he was awarded a President's Choice award at RAND in 2012. He continues to lead the further development and improvement of RAND’s Coastal Louisiana Risk Assessment (CLARA) model to support the state’s ongoing planning. Previously, he evaluated the potential for nonstructural investments to reduce future flood risk in New Orleans and supported water supply planning in the Colorado Basin with the Bureau of Reclamation. Dr. Fischbach also works with federal agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, to better incorporate deep uncertainty into their long-term climate and coastal adaptation planning efforts.
