Currently, I am serving as Environment and Social Safeguard Specialist of (a World Bank funded) “Livestock and Dairy Development project (LDDP) where my prime responsibilities are to ensure climate resilience of LDDP activities (producers’ groups) and infrastructures. Concurrently, I am a Senior Fellow of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS), Founding Director of NABIC- Nansen-Bangladesh International Centre for Coastal, Ocean and Climate Studies (NABIC). I started career in 1993 as public servant in participatory forestry with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bangladesh. Later, I taught at University of Qatar on environmental remote sensing and conservation planning.
I have experiences in concept to full program/project development and field level execution to strategy development in the areas of environment, livelihoods, assessments, climate change, adaptation, ecosystem modeling and resilience with application of geospatial science. I have also contributed many climate related policy analysis works in Asia and Africa.
My prior working engagements and expertise with ADB, EU, FCDO, GEF, GIZ, UNDP, UNEP, USAID, World Bank, and such other partners and funding agencies on various climate change adaptation and resilience programs would enable me to add value to the services of IDRC. I have familiarity with IDRC and FCDO working environment through my engagement during ESPA and CARIAA. My working experiences with professionals and communities; and familiarity with cultures and societies will be an added advantage.
My expertise in innovative climate research towards enhanced resilience of ecosystems and society through successfully managing or collaborating with cross-cultural teams in Africa, Asia, Europe and Americas encouraged me to hopefully join the IDRC for serving the people.
