Strategic advisor
Kim van Nieuwaal is a specialist in science-policy interactions, particularly in the field of adaptation to climate change. As a seasoned knowledge broker he has been advisor to ministries, provinces, municipalities, universities, knowledge institutes, ngo's and businesses. He has an extensive network in academia, policy and practice. Currently, Kim is strategic advisor at Climate Adaptation Services foundation. He is director of Delta Alliance International. Kim is also chairman of the board at the Dutch Wadden Sea Society. Kim was program manager of the Netherlands national research program Knowledge for Climate (90 mln. Euros). Kim was one of the lead authors of the National Adaptation Strategy of the Netherlands which was published in 2016. Also, Kim has been involved in climate adaptation strategies for Rotterdam, The Hague, Mainport Schiphol Airport, the South-west Delta, the Wadden Sea and the major rivers in the Netherlands. Kim has been teaching on public administration, strategic management and adaptation to climate change. He has also published in those fields. Kim van Nieuwaal holds an MA in Public Administration from the Erasmus University Rotterdam and a PhD in Public Administration and Organization Studies from VU University Amsterdam.
