PhD researcher
Manav was a visiting researcher in the Energy Group at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE), University of Oxford, and a full-time PhD student in Management-Innovation, Sustainability, and Healthcare at the Santanna university in Pisa, Italy. His research focuses on the relevance of the circular economy with climate change mitigation and adaptation and the role of International Organizations. During his PhD, he worked on 6 consulting projects on the circular economy funded by EU Horizon Program, Life Tackle, etc. He is on the CEO's Youth Advisory Panel 2023 for the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA). In addition, he did an internship with the mitigation division of UNFCCC.
He has reviewed the unreleased IPCC AR6 WGll chapter 6, Cities, Settlements and Key Infrastructure, and chapter 8 of the WGlll Urban Systems and Other Settlements. He was awarded the IMF Youth Fellowship 2021. He was also awarded the 2022 Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador by the Global Youth Climate Network (GYCN), the World Bank Group Youth Community (Y2Y) initiative.
He was selected as the Keynote Guest Speaker at the Cambridge Climate and Sustainability Forum 2021 to speak about individuals’ role in climate change mitigation along with the Nobel Laureate Jyoti Kirit Parikh and climate experts such as Dr Debbie Raphael, Professor Anthony Nyong, Prof. Naoko Ishii and Neeshad Shafi etc.
Before coming to Italy, he worked with the Independent Evaluation Unit (IEU) of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in South Korea. He received a master’s degree in International Trade, Finance, and Management through Posco Asia Fellowship from Yonsei University in South Korea. He did his undergraduate in Korean Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India.
He was the Country Ambassador for India for the Global Youth Energy Outlook (GYEO) with the Student Energy. He is also an active volunteer with the IYCN India and volunteered with Youngo (UNFCCC’s constituency), WWF Italy, GCE Europe, and Shaping Horizons (Cambridge University), UNV in Kenya.
