Doctoral Fellow in Sustainability and Environmental Politics
Sara K. Phillips is a qualified attorney (New York), holding a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School, a Master of Laws from McGill University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder. At present, she is an Associate Researcher with the Center for Social Development Studies at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, a Doctoral Fellow in Sustainability and Environmental Politics at the Stockholm Environment Institute-Asia, and a Visiting Lecturer with the Center for Global Law and Policy at Santa Clara University School of Law. Prior to reentering academia, Sara garnered over a decade of experience in the legal sector in Canada, the United States, and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where her practice focused on energy and natural resources with an emphasis on mining and land use. She has also acted as a consultant to NGOs, government bodies, and multinational corporations on issues pertaining to corporate social responsibility, sustainable resource development, and human rights.
