Distinguished Policy Fellow
Dr. Timo Leiter is a Distinguished Policy Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) at its Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Enviornment (GRI). Timo is a global thought leader on tracking the implementation progress of adaptation to climate change. He has been advising several governments on developing national adaptation monitoring and evaluation systems and on national adaptation planning. He has published widely on monitoring and evaluation of adaptation including journal articles, guidebooks and submissions to UNFCCC. In 2019, Timo led the background paper on adaptation metrics for the Global Commission on Adaptation. Since 2015, he has been closely involved in the UN climate change negotiations including most recently in the work programmes under the Global Goal on Adaptation. Timo is a lead author of UNEP's Adaptation Gap Report where he leads a diverse author team to undertake an annual assessment of global progress on adaptation implementation. Timo is also a contributing author to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, Working Group II on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability (Chapters 1 and 17).
