Centre for Climate Change and Environment Management

The Centre for Climate Change and Environment Management is a non governmental Organization based in Malawi that is aimed at addressing effects of climate change by:

  • Rescuing and converting climate, environmental and hydrological data from analogue to digital form from voluntary rainfall and weather stations all over Malawi.
  • Building the capacity of all stakeholders in independent/voluntary weather/rainfall stations to support the standardization of their data so that it becomes internationally recognized and made available nationally, regionally and globally.
  • Linking weather/rainfall stations that do not communicate with the Malawi Meteorological Services so that they digitally archive and disseminate their weather and climate information so that adverse effects of climate change may be diagnosed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Sharing and interpreting the climatic information to various sectors of the economy, such as Agriculture, Water, Energy, Health and Tourism for use before it is too late.
  • Enhancing community resilience and adaptation programs through technology based intervention.
  • Improving food security through sensitizing communities and suporting farmers to plant drought resistant crops, in collaboration with Agricultural experts.
  • Improving access to safe water, Sanitation, hygiene and environment management.
  • Fully supporting the Malawi government’s commitment in fulfilling the National Adaptation Programs of Action (NAPA) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
