AN ORGANIZATION THAT TAKES CARE OF PEOPLE WHO TAKE CARE OF THE FOREST

Fundação Amazônia Sustentável (FAS) is a Brazilian non-governmental, non-profit organization created on February 8, 2008, through a partnership between Bradesco and the Government of the State of Amazonas. Subsequently, it started to count on the support of Coca-Cola Brasil (2009), the Amazon Fund (2010) and Samsung (2010), in addition to other partnerships in programs and projects developed.

THE FOUNDATION

To promote sustainable development in the Amazon, FAS adopts as strategies to act on the global, Amazon and local scales, implementing agendas related to strategic themes: health, education and citizenship, empowerment, income generation, community infrastructure, environmental conservation, management and transparency, research, development and innovation. All related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On a global scale, the Foundation has international cooperation agendas and multilateral articulations, as well as participation in the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

On the Amazon scale, he is responsible for the executive secretary of the SDSN Amazon Network, in addition to maintaining an intense dialogue channel with the main institutions focused on the environment and sustainability in Latin America and the Pan-Amazon.

On a local scale, in 2019, FAS assisted more than 9,430 families, benefiting more than 39,460 people living in 16 sustainable use conservation units in the State of Amazonas and 32 municipalities, in an area of ​​over 11 million hectares, building solutions for the sustainable development through programs and projects that address strategic issues for the region.

The main initiatives are implemented through the Bolsa Floresta Program (PBF), Education, Health and Citizenship Program (PES), Innovative Solutions Program (PSI), Institutional Development and Partnerships Program (PDI) and Management and Transparency Program ( PGT).

MISSION

Contribute to the environmental conservation of the Amazon by valuing the standing forest and its biodiversity and improving the quality of life of riverside communities associated with the implementation and dissemination of knowledge on sustainable development.

VISION

To be a world reference in solutions for sustainable development in the Amazon, through the valorization of the standing forest and its biodiversity, community empowerment and the expansion and strengthening of partnerships.
