The aim of the Bolivian Institute of Biology at Elevation (IBBA) is to produce quality research, of national interest and recognized by the international scientific community; participate in the training of human resources of pre and post degree in the area of ​​health and related disciplines, through the transmission of the results of their research and technological update; and put at the service of the Bolivian community the results of their research, their highly qualified personnel and their cutting-edge technology.

The research undertaken by the institute is framed through two lines of national interest:

  1. Adaptation and maladaptation to life at elevation
  2. Human biodiversity in Bolivia
