Ohio University is a large, primarily residential, public research university in Athens, Ohio, United States. As of 2016, the university’s total enrollment, including all campuses, was more than 36,800. Ohio University is noted internationally for research and scholarship in areas including avionics, biotechnology, communications, education, environmental studies, history, pipeline corrosion, physics, and psychology; and has world-class fine arts programs that include ceramics, film, and printmaking.
The University is home to dozens of centers, institutes, and facilities that advance world-class research, scholarship, and creative work, such as the Institute for Corrosion and Multiphase Technology, the John E. Edwards Accelerator Laboratory, the Schey Sales Center, the Tantrum Theater, the Avionics Engineering Center, the Edison Biotechnology Institute, the Ohio Musculoskeletal and Neurological Institute, and the Game Research and Immersive Design Lab.
