Biography
Dr. rer. nat. Yousef MESLMANI is currently works as an independent Environmental Development consultant in Vienna, AUSTRIA. In (1995) he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Atmospheric physics from University of Vienna, Austria.
Dr. Meslmani worked as associate professor of Environmental Sciences and Atmospheric physics at University of Damascus-Syria,as well asresearcher and head of air pollution and aerosols of research laboratories at Syrian Atomic Energy Commission (AECS).
Dr. Meslmani was appointed as
- a Chief Scientific Advisor at Syrian Ministry of State for Environment Affairs.
- a visiting Associate Professor to Chinese academy of sciences, Institute Atmospheric Physics, Beijing, China.
- a Lecturer at the Institute for Occupational safety and health in Damascus, Syria.
- National Director for the Preparation and enabling activities of Syria's Initial National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
- Regional Representative of West Asia's Major Groups Stakeholders (MGS) to the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA).
- Lead author of Atmosphere Chapter, UNEP Global Environment Outlook (GEO-4 & GEO-5).
- Board member and deputy chairman of the board of Syrian Environment Association (SEA)
Dr. Meslmani hasnearly 20 years of experience covering teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as multi-disciplinary skills and experience in dealing with development issues, obtained through short and long-term assignments with various national, regional and international organizations covering several environmental and development issues His research interestinclude
Air Quality and Climate Change issues in the Arab world and Mediterranean region; selected Environmental strategic studies; Environmental Health; Atmospheric Aerosols; AIR-, Noise and Water- Pollution; Green gas emission; Environmental policy and management;Waste water treatment, Environmental Impact Assessment
