ANID
The National Research and Development Agency in Chile implements initiatives designed to promote research, technological development and scientific-technological innovation in accordance with the policies set out by the Science Ministry.
Formerly known as CONICYT, it was founded in 1967, when its main role was to advise the President of Chile on scientific matters. Its work has grown to include provision of scholarships (in all subjects), funding research and development projects, and systematising scientific information. It currently focuses its efforts on the training of advanced human capital, on developing and strengthening Chile’s scientific and technological base, addressing regional development, and promoting international liaison.
