European Citizen Science Association (ECSA)
The European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) is a membership organisation set up in 2014. Our main goals are to increase the democratisation of science, encourage the growth of citizen science in Europe, and support the participation of the general public in research processes ⎯ across the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and the arts.
European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to connect citizens and science; to promote sustainable development through citizen science; and to ensure that citizen science contributes to policy processes. ECSA’s vision is that all citizens in Europe are valued and empowered as actors in advancing knowledge and innovation, and thus supporting sustainable development.
ECSA sees citizen science as an open, inclusive approach. We support the exploration of how citizen science should be understood and practised, and help to shape different aspects of the citizen science movement, in Europe and around the world. Ultimately, we believe that this will lead to a better understanding of citizen science, and support the use of its outcomes in decision-making processes.
