The University of Bern
The University of Bern is a university in the Swiss capital of Bern and was founded in 1834. Sustainable development represents a global challenge. As hotspots for knowledge generation and transfer, universities are expected to make a contribution. The University of Bern takes this responsibility seriously and is committed to integrating sustainability as a cross-cutting issue across all areas of the university (teaching, research, continuing education, public relations and business operations) and promoting the respectful use of ecological, economic and social resources.
The University of Bern has named sustainability as one its priority research areas. It conducts excellent disciplinary, inter- and transdisciplinary research and teaching with an international focus on topics such as climate, managing global change (north-south) and trade regulation. Further areas of focus include biodiversity, sustainable land management and Gender Studies.
