Adaptation strategies for the Jujuy model forest in NW Argentina
The Jujuy Model Forest is one of three case study model forests of the EcoAdapt project, which aims to develop and implement ecosystem-based adaptation strategies in Argentinian, Bolivian and Chilean communities.
Being a highly agroproductive area in which human activity has progressively been causing environmental impacts, it has been necessary to bring together relevant regional actors in order to develop a common understanding that promotes the proper use of natural resources and improves the living conditions of the population.
Current efforts are aimed at consolidating a participatory, sustainable planning and management process of natural resources. These efforts aim at reversing the problems of soil erosion, deforestation, land use planning and overexploitation of natural resources.
