Climate Change Adaptation at Hydro Tasmania

Summary
Climate change affects runoff conditions, reservoir evaporation and sedimentation regimes with consequences for power generation, asset integrity and operational safety. In response to projected reductions in water inflows, Hydro Tasmania has implemented a package of adaptation measures to compensate future production losses. Adaptation measures include changes in seasonal operating rules and turbine outage management, installation of additional generation capacity in the form of mini-hydropower assets, improvements in water inflow efficiency, and increases in water storage capacity.
