2050 Pathways for Resilience: What mechanisms deliver adaptation and resilience at scale for LDCs?
Wednesday 12 December 2018
Time: 16:45 – 18:15
Room: Bug
As Least Developed Countries (LDCs) confront the impacts of climate change, consideration of a range of suitable adaptation and resilience building mechanisms and approaches is required. The new LDC initiative for effective adaptation and resilience (LIFE-AR), aims to develop an overarching LDC Vision for adapting towards a climate resilient future by 2050, informed by such innovative mechanisms to support implementation of the Vision. This side event invites expertise from the international community to discuss global experience and evidence on mechanisms — including devolved climate finance, forecast-based financing and financial aggregation enabling SME innovation — that have successfully built local and national institutions, collaboration, and capabilities to deliver climate resilience, followed by an open discussion of the opportunities and challenges for taking promising mechanisms to scale.
