Halifax Regional Municipality, Canada, exists to serve the needs and interests of its citizens. The management and employees support council decision making, recognize and encourage diversity and deliver efficient, effective and responsive services for the residents of Halifax.
Halifax Council passes resolutions, policies, By-laws and Administrative Orders as the means of providing direction – official records of these documents can be provided through the Office of the Municipal Clerk. The Halifax Regional Charter is the provincial legislation that provides governance oversight to the Region.
Energy & Environment
The municipality established the Energy & Environment office to serve as the corporate lead for sustainability and environmental policy, strategy, reporting, and performance monitoring. The office takes an integrated systems approach to the environment, focusing on clean energy, air, water and land. The group also coordinates internal and external education and awareness programs.
